Grey Lady

(Directed by John Shea)

Director/Writer/Producer/Actor John Shea (Bates Class of 1970)

John Shea’s (Bates Class of 1970) Grey Lady follows the story of James Doyle (Eric Dane), a homicide detective working out of Boston. When his sister and partner are killed in a failed rescue mission, he returns to Nantucket to search for the killer. The film explores the limits of revenge by asking a central question, “How far would you go to protect your family?” Shea wrote, directed, produced, and starred in this film, which was shot largely on Nantucket, the island he now calls home. His turn as Chief Maguire is one of the film’s best, and if you watch closely, you may even catch a glimpse of Shea’s youngest son Caidan who is a high school senior this year.
