We Shall Not Be Moved (No Nos Moverán) follows Socorro Castellanos – a gruff, veteran lawyer with a lifelong smoking habit and an unrelenting drive for justice. For over fifty years, she has pursued the soldier responsible for her brother’s murder during the 1968 Tlatelolco student massacre. Her obsession has fractured her relationships with her sister, Esperanza, and her son, Jorge, but when a new lead surfaces, Socorro can’t help but embark on a dangerous quest for vengeance, threatening her family, her legacy, and her own life. Selected as Mexico’s 2024 submission for the Academy Award for Best International Feature, We Shall Not Be Moved uses an intimate cinematic style to confront historical trauma. Shot in striking black-and-white, director Pierre Saint-Martin makes his debut film blending genres with flashes of dry humor, resulting in a bold and unpredictable revenge thriller.
