The 2015 film Tumbledown, directed by Sean Mewshaw and co-written by Mewshaw and Desirée Van Til, is a heartfelt exploration of grief, love, and moving forward. Set in rural Maine, this romantic comedy-drama follows Hannah (Rebecca Hall), a young widow grappling with the sudden death of her husband. Her mourning is disrupted by the arrival of a brash New York academic (Jason Sudeikis) determined to investigate her late husband’s life and legacy. As their unlikely partnership unfolds, Hannah is pushed to confront both her loss and the ambiguous circumstances surrounding her husband’s death. Blending humor with emotional depth, Tumbledown offers an unconventional narrative enriched by its evocative portrait of rural Maine. (Written by Shelter Gimbel-Sherr, ’27)
