Sophie Wheeler ‘25 is a junior at Bates College from Skowhegan, Maine. As a double major in Rhetoric, Film, and Screen Studies and Theater Directing, she has devoted her studies to art and language both to develop a greater understanding of the world around us and to challenge many of those ideas. Sophie owes her love of the arts to her parents, who exposed her to theater and film before she could walk. Outside of academic pursuits, she can be found working as a Carpenter in the Theater’s Scene Shop, or in Bates’ Student Employment Office. As a huge believer in the power of art for social change, she is thrilled to be a member of the Bates Film Festival’s Board of Directors!
