Sierra Ryder

Sierra Ryder is an anchor and news reporter at NBC Montana where she mainly works on the morning show and reports relevant news stories on air.  She earned her B.A. in Rhetoric, Film, and Screen Studies from Bates College before obtaining a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University’s famed S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. At Bates, Ryder was a founding member of the Bates Film Festival Board of Directors.  She credits the BFF with helping her to develop strong communication skills, which play a critical role in her current position.  One of Ryder’s fondest memories from the inaugural BFF was having NYPD 12 police officers Pedro Serrano and Richie Baez come and speak about Crime + Punishment, a documentary that chronicles their efforts to challenge the department’s quota system.
