Max McKersie

Max McKersie is a junior at Bates College where he is majoring in Political Economy and minoring in Rhetoric, Film, and Screen Studies. He is a captain of the Bates Men’s Soccer team. In the summer of 2021, Max played semi-professional soccer for Electric City Shock in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he finished 10th in the league in starts/games played. This summer, he has signed to play for the Seacoast United Phantoms in Epping, New Hampshire, a USL League 2 team, one of the most respected pre-professional soccer leagues in the US. Max credits sports with teaching him many life lessons, and he aspires to foster similar experiences for young people. He volunteers his time to coach and teach young athletes, and in the coming months, he hopes to be awarded a US Soccer Foundation Safe Places to Play grant to open a new multi-sport court in his hometown of Arlington, Massachusetts. After college, Max plans to pursue a Master’s degree in sports management and hopes to find ways to improve athletic facilities in low-income communities nationwide. Max was born in Cleveland and raised in Boston. His love for movies derives from his memories of watching various films with his family.
