Maverick Selementi is a Rhetoric, Film, and Screen Studies major with a minor in Anthropology. He is the oldest of five brothers, a second-generation Vietnamese American, and a four-year varsity football student-athlete. Maverick has a strong passion for sports, storytelling, and working with children. He runs his own training program and summer camp for student athletes in his hometown of Montclair, NJ. Maverick believes that togetherness, especially now, is an imperative, and he brings his love of bringing people together to the Bates Film Festival. He also has extensive experience as a video editor, working across multiple platforms including Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and CapCut. He currently works with the online football coach ReceiverSchool, where he edits game and training film and produces digital content. This semester he is working on his senior thesis which examines the intersections between Hollywood football films and their relationships with militaristic undertones, children, and neoliberalism. After graduation, he hopes to bridge his interests in sports cinematography and marketing.
