Ido Fluk is a New York-based writer-director.

His latest film, KÖLN 75, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and was nominated for 4 German Academy Awards (Lolas) including Best Film. For her portrayal of Vera Brandes in the film, actress Mala Emde won the Bambi Award as well as the German Screen Actors Award. The film was released internationally to critical acclaim with the New York Times dubbing it “Hard to resist” and the London Times calling it “one of the most dynamic and captivating films to emerge from Germany in years.” 

Fluk grew up in Tel Aviv and later in Paris. In 1999 he won the Young Director’s Award at the Jerusalem Film Festival for a short film. He moved to New York in the early aughts to study at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied under filmmaker Kelly Reichardt and performance artist Karen Finley. At NYU, he produced a series of video art works that were shown at Dumbo Arts, Rencontres Internationales Paris-Berlin, Darklight in Dublin and Videolisboa as well as the Guggenheim Collection in Bonn and the Sao Paulo Museum of Modern Art.

In 2011 Fluk wrote and directed his debut feature film, NEVER TOO LATE. Crowdsourced and shot on a shoestring budget of $25k, the film premiered at Edinburgh International Film Festival and won the first prize (Regard d’Or) at Fribourg International Film Festival. In her review of the film, Variety’s Alissa Simon wrote that it marked Fluk as “a talent to watch.”

In 2017 Fluk co-wrote and directed THE TICKET starring Dan Stevens and Malin Akerman. The film premiered in U.S. competition at the Tribeca Film Festival with Variety’s Jay Weissberg writing “a visually accomplished, psychologically compelling drama with top-notch performances masterfully depicting intimacies gone awry,” and Screen International’s Graham Fuller calling it “a first-rate example of unsentimental, minimalistic indie filmmaking.”

As a writer, Fluk has developed work for HBO, Fremantle, and has collaborated on projects with filmmakers such as Oren Moverman, James Schamus, and Joe Wright. Forthcoming is THE SUNRISE FILE, co-written by Fluk and Alexis Bloom, starring Brian Cox and Diane Kruger and directed by Rupert Wyatt.
