Dr. Aaron Miller

Dr. Aaron Miller is the Curator of Exhibits & Collections and NAGPRA Coordinator at the Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor, ME. The Abbe’s unique mission is through community collaboration to illuminate and advance greater understanding of and support for Wabanaki Nations’ heritage, living cultures, and homelands. Prior to starting his role at the Abbe in 2023, Miller spent more than a decade as a curator with the encyclopedic collection of the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum and Joseph Allen Skinner Museum in Massachusetts. Most recently heading the curatorial department, Aaron was also the NAGPRA Coordinator and Head of Cultural Repatriation. Since 2015, Miller has coordinated the return of Native Ancestors, burial belongings, and sacred objects from institutions in Massachusetts and Maine. The first decade of Aaron’s career focused on archaeology and he has a background in the 17th- through 19th-century archaeology of northeastern North America and holds an MA in anthropology and a PhD in Historical Archaeology from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
